Authorities arrested rapper Young Thug on Monday and sentenced him on two gang-related charges, officials said.
They arrested him as part of a 56-count grand jury indictment in Georgia involving 28 members of the Young Stoner Life Records label founded by Young Thug, WSB-TV reported.
According to the report, Young Thug, a 30-year-old Atlanta-based rapper born Jeffery Lamar Williams, faces charges of conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) and alleged participation in activities. of street gangs.

The charges stemmed from different incidents, with the RICO Act charge coming from a 2013 incident and the gang-related activity charge coming from 2018, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
Rapper and YSL member Gunna has also been arrested and faces one count of conspiracy to rape RICO, according to court documents.

Prosecutors in the indictment claimed that YSL operates with the Bloods gang and highlighted numerous gang-related incidents spanning years that include criminal actions, AJC reported.

One of those incidents included Young Thug renting a car and being ordered to hit a member of a rival gang, prosecutors say in the indictment.

Williams’ defense attorney Brian Steel said the rapper will dispute the allegations.
“I will tell you the answer to any allegation; Mr. Williams has committed no crime and we will fight to the last drop of blood to clear him,” Steel said. says WSB-TV.
Young Thug is a Grammy-winning rapper who is heavily influencing the Atlanta area. He’s also built a national following and regularly rubs shoulders with other popular names, including recent song appearances with Cardi B and Elton John.

The rapper has a criminal record that includes a 2016 arrest on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court, a 2017 arrest on drug charges including possession of methamphetamine, hydrocodone and marijuana, Fox 5 reported from Atlanta.
He was incarcerated in the Fulton County Jail.
